Visiting Alpaca World, Nami Island, and Rail Park was one of the nicest experiences we had in our South Korea trip. We originally considered going DIY, but since we didn’t have much time to go throughout Korea and it can be challenging and time-consuming to get to alpaca world using public transportation we decided to book a package on Klook for around 4,000 php, which included roundtrip transfers, tour guide, and entrance fees to attractions (but i have included potential DIY travel expenses for you to consider). We chose to visit Nami Island, Alpaca, and Rail Park, but there are more attractions to explore near Gangwon-do. It was definitely worth the money to experience these three incredible attractions in one day.
We received an email from our tour guide a day before our travel date confirming the time and place of our meet-up. We left the hotel early in the morning, at around 6a.m., to head to Myeongdong pick-up point since our tour guide was quite careful about the schedule, as we could only spend 2-3 hours at a time at each location.
ALPACA WORLD
Our first stop was Alpaca World, where we met adorable fluffy alpacas and enjoyed seeing other animals like squirrels, deer, eagles, birds, rabbits, sheep, ostriches, goats, and more. This park is located at 310 Pungcheon-ri, Hwachon-myeon, Hongcheon, Gangwon-do, South Korea, which is 2 hours away from Myeongdong.
Our tour guide already secured admission tickets and park maps for us before we enter. However, if you prefer to do it yourself, here are the things you might need to know.
- Operating Hours: 10:00am – 18:00pm (Last Admission: 16:30)
- Admission Fee: ₩18,000 (Aged 3 t0 64), ₩14,400 (Aged 65 and above)
- Walk with alpaca: ₩12,000
- Alpaca food : ₩1,000
While we are waiting, we grabbed the opportunity to get some hot chocolate and alpaca bread for a quick breakfast in Art shop and cafe right at the park entrance.
Before the show begins, guests are given complimentary animal feed, but make sure to bring cash if you need to get a cup of alpaca food as the vending machine doesn’t accept card.
The Alpaca show usually starts around 10am, so its best to arrive early. We were lucky enough to watch them run down from the top of the hill and experience feeding these charming alpacas up close.
